Big Gig & Warwick Castle, 16/17th Oct 2004 After numerous attempts to get tickets for the Big Gig, this year we finally succeeded. We had a whole weekend away, including a sleepover, a mega-concert and a visit to Warwick Castle. We also took some girls from the neighbouring West Chiltington Guide Unit. 21 of us set off early(ish) on Saturday morning, arriving in Manchester on Saturday afternoon. We headed for the Guide Hall near the centre of Manchester where we were staying. We met some of the local guides and had a quick snack before setting off for the Manchester Evening News Arena and the Big Gig. The concert was excellent with performances from Rachel Stevens, Lemar, Liz McClaron, Girls Aloud, The 411, V, VS, MisTeeq, Phixx, Rooster and the Noise Next Door. After the concert we returned to the Guide Hall and had a meal of Fish & Chips from a local Chippie, followed by 'music and messing' and a sleepover with some of the local guides. After a late night, a little sleep, and then breakfast, it was time to say farewell to our hosts and head south. We stopped off for a couple of hours at Warwick Castle for a bit of fun and culture before returning to Storrington at about 6pm for a rest! Several people helped make this an excellent weekend, and we would particularly like to thank Chris Linfield who drove the minibus, Sandie Johnson who helped supervise and took the photos, and Sue Barrett for making us so welcome in Manchester.
