Capital Jig
24th/25th October 2009
As part of the centenary celebrations for GirlGuiding, we joined several hundred other Guides in London for the Capital Jig. This was a joint celebration involving London, Edinburgh, Copenhagen and Prague. We all met each other via a video link set up for us in Holborn.
After the link-up, we explored part of London, ending up at Covent Garden in the evening. We were allowed some time to ourselves and went off in groups to explore this area. There was an amazing amount going on. By this time, we were getting really hungry, so we set off to Baden Powell house where we were staying for the night.
In the morning, we set off to the London Eye. We had a capsule to ourselves which was terrific. The weather was good so the views were stunning. Afterwards, we took a train down to Crystal Palace where we had lunch and then explored the Maze restored in celebration on the centenary. It was then time to return home, so it was back on the train and back to Sussex.
Judging by the comments made we must have been very tired as we were a lot quieter when we got back than when we left!
