Summer Camp, East Dean, 19-21st June
This was our main summer camp and was set in a remote valley in the South Downs at the Haredown Mountain Boarding Centre
We arrived on Friday evening and put up our tents before playing a Wild Animal Wide Game. Then it was time for bed, and after much talking, we finally fell asleep.
On Saturday morning, we had our first All Terrain Boarding session. Some of us did it last year and were able to build on our skills. Lessons were provided for those who hadn't done it before. Most of us fell over a few times, and we collected an impressive set of bruises between us. In the afternoon we did a tour of the farm. This was really interesting. We got to see how the cows were milked; and where they lived; and what they were fed on when they weren't in the fields. We were then taken by tractor to see some really cute calves. At first they were pleased to see us, but when they realised we had no food, they kept their distance. The tour then took us to other fields to see the crops that were growing. We finished off back at the farm for an ice cream.
On Sunday morning we had another boarding session. Some of us are becoming quite good at it now!
At lunchtime, it was time to clear up and we set off for home where one of the first things to be done just had to be shower.
A great big thank-you to the staff at the Haredown All Terrain Boarding Centre for hosting us and letting us have such a cool time
