West Grinstead - Trains & Nature, 3rd June 2009

This evening we visited the old West Grinstead station on the disused Steyning Line. This station is on the 'Downs Link' which connects the North and South Downs. There is not much left at the station, but there is tunnel, and an old railway carriage housing a small museum of the railway, and because of its rural location, lots of nature!

We spent some time in the carriage, learning about the Steyning line and doing a short quiz. Outside we learnt how to identify all the different trees in the vicinity, and then tried to identify the various animal tracks to get an idea of the types of wild animals in the area.

A huge thank-you to Geraldine Barnes for making this such an interesting and entertaining evening.
