Cudham Camp
1st - 7th August
This camp was arranged as part of the Centenary of Girlguiding celebrations and took place on the North Downs with many other units from the UK and around the world. We camped there all week and had a terrific time.
There were loads of activities, including a day trip to Brownsea Island where Lord Baden Powell held the first ever scout camp, and where we all renewed our Promise followed by Crabbing on the beach. Back at camp, we enjoyed zipwire, bungee jumping, abseiling, aerial walkway, as well as traditional skills like camp cooking.
We competed in Guiding competitions such as the fastest tent pitcher (and won), and a talent show (nearly won).
As well as the day trip to Brownsea Island, we visited Down House, the home of Charles Darwin, followed by a visit to Downe Scout Activity Centre. On our charity day, we raised over £150 for Kent Air Ambulance.
The weather was good all week, except for the ferry trip over to Brownsea Island, and on the last morning. We met many new people and made new friends in other units. It really was a week to remember.
